This Benzoyl Peroxide Shampoo is a powerful cleansing and degreasing shampoo for the relief of scaling and itching associated with skin infection, seborrheic disorders, and follicular plugging on dogs and cats. The combination of benzoyl peroxide, micronized sulfur and salicylic acid allows for degreasing, follicular flushing, and enhanced keratolytic and keratoplastic activity. It is is formulated in a citrus scented, soap-free, lathering shampoo base with skin moisturizers for gentle cleaning and deodorizing, while effectively removing scales and oils from the coat. Active Ingredients: Benzoyl Peroxide 3%, Sulfur 2%. Salicylic Acid 2%. Sulfur has antiseptic, mild antifungal, and antibacterial properties that inhibit bacterial growth. Keratolytic action softens and loosens dead skin. Salicylic acid lowers skin PH which helps keratin (protein) in the skin absorb more water and in turn hydrates the outer layer of the skin. Keratolytic action works with Sulfur to soften and loosen dead skin. Benzoyl peroxide provides antibacterial and anti-seborrheic action. Exerts follicular flushing action helping with acne, and hyperkeratosis. Decreases sebum and sebaceous gland activity and increases water loss in skin. Kills bacteria.
